wideMargins

set [the] wideMargins of field to trueOrFalse

The wideMargins property returns or sets whether HyperCard adds extra space between the edges of a field and its text (to make it easier to read). It corresponds to the Wide Margins check box in a Field Info dialog box.

The default value is false.

Examples

set the wideMargins of bkgnd field 2 to true

An expression that identifies a field by name, number, or id using one of the following forms (in AppleScript, use “background” in place of “bkgnd”):

When used inside a field script in HyperTalk: `me`
When a field receives a message: `[the] target`
A field can also be referred to as a part when you’re talking about its position among all buttons and fields within the same card or background.

trueOrFalse

Any expression that evaluates to the HyperTalk and AppleScript constants true or false.

For example:

false
the hilite of bg btn "Yes"
fld "Zip" contains "95014"
the short name of this stack is "Fred"
