### locked field

A field with the Lock Text check box in its Field Info dialog box selected (its lockText property is true). 

Users can’t enter or edit text in a locked field.

To set the Lock Text for a field, first choose the Field tool, and select the field by clicking it once. Then choose Field Info from the Objects menu. Click the Lock Text check box to select it or deselect it.

Your user level must be set to Authoring (4) to see the Objects menu.
